Cougars drop road game to San Diego
For the first time this season Dave Rose’s BYU Cougars have dropped 2 straight games losing this afternoon to the Toreros of San Diego 77 to 74.
In a game in which the Cougars lead for most of the day no individual player seemed to step up and take command of the game, as we have seen in previous conference matchups, and the Toreros were able to take advantage of missed opportunities and come away with the win.
Key factors to the San Diego win include multiple trips to the foul line, offensive rebound margin and 2nd chance points, and poor Cougar shooting from behind the arc. The Toreros were able to grab 11 offensive rebounds to just the Cougars 6, and shot a staggering 32 free throws compared to the Cougars 17 attempts. The Cougars, which had been hot from behind the arc shot only 20%.
The Cougars return to action January 29th taking on the San Francisco Dons at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah.
